Auckland Diving History

Auckland Diving provides over-arching management and co-ordination for 2 clubs. Auckland Diving is administered by the Auckland Diving Community Trust (ADCT) - a not for profit organization that oversees and co-ordinates diving for the 2 independentclubs:
  • Diving Waitakere
  • North Harbour Diving
Both Waitakere and North Harbour Diving are affiliated to Diving NZ - the governing body for the sport in New Zealand.

Both clubs are administered by separate governing committees and have a healthy rivalry at competition time.

Diving NZ

Both Waitakere and North Harbour Diving are affiliated to Diving NZ - the governing body for the sport in New Zealand. The Diving NZ website has valuable resources for parents and outlines the Strategic Plan and Constitution for diving throughout NZ.

Diving Waitakere

Auckland's first dive club was founded at Waitakere and has a pedigree of international representation over more than 20 years. Arthur Brake was the founder and original coach of the club. His legacy is carried on by the current team of coaches and management to continue his love of the sport.

North Harbour Diving

North Harbour club was first established in May 2004 as a beginners diving club under the name North Shore Dive School. The club was founded by Tash Vruink and Anna Thomas, both experienced divers who have previously represented New Zealand in international competitions. The club was incorporated on 17 November 2006 and became part of Harbour Sport, changing it's name to North Harbour Diving Inc. to more accurately reflect the region it represents. North Harbour Diving now caters for beginners through to national level competitive divers. Depending on the divers skill level, the divers train between 1 – 5 times per week.

A Strong Volunteer Culture

Our club relies on volunteer help from parents. Please contact us if you would like to contribute. We need help in areas such as administration, website maintenance, electronic newsletters and emails, accounting and finance, catering at competitions, set up for competitions, and scoring. We'd love to hear from you.
